What is the PTA?

The PTA stands for Parent-Teacher Association. It consists of parents and teachers working together to foster a supportive community that affords our children exciting and positive new opportunities. The PTA promotes student development, academic enrichment and relationship building through after-school programming and other community-based activities. The J.O. Wilson PTA is a 501c3 charitable non-profit organization. You can view the PTA's bylaws here.

Membership

Membership in the J.O. Wilson PTA is free. Membership is open to any parent, grandparent and legal guardian of a student at J.O. Wilson ES, and any employee of J.O. Wilson ES. 

There are lots of ways to get involved with the PTA:

• Volunteer at an event

Support the PTA

Donations to the PTA are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. The PTA is a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 27-1832760).

Meetings

The PTA holds its General Body meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Links to virtual meetings will be available on the school calendar and sent out via the Cardinal Connection.

First PTA meeting and elections Sept. 8, 2026 at 6 p.m. - Our first meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 8 from 6 - 7 p.m. in-person at school. Dinner and childcare will be provided. Come find out about what we have planned for the year ahead, review and approve our annual budget, and more!

During the meeting, we will also hold PTA board elections for the following positions:

1st Vice President -- Emily Badger, interim appointee
Assistant Treasurer -- Michael Massiwer, interim appointee
Assistant Secretary -- Open

The interim appointees currently occupying these positions intend to seek permanent election, but any J.O. Wilson parent, grandparent, guardian or staff member is eligible to be nominated for these positions. Please submit your nominations here! Cardinal Grant Program 

The J.O. Wilson PTA is pleased to offer teachers, staff and J.O. community groups the Cardinal Grant Program, which makes additional funding available for academic and extracurricular enrichment and community-building. Email info@jowilsonpta.org with any questions.
