What is the PTA?

The PTA stands for Parent-Teacher Association. It consists of parents and teachers working together to foster a supportive community that affords our children exciting and positive new opportunities. The PTA promotes student development, academic enrichment and relationship building through after-school programming and other community-based activities. The J.O. Wilson PTA is a 501c3 charitable non-profit organization. You can view the PTA's bylaws here.

Membership

Membership in the J.O. Wilson PTA is free. Membership is open to any parent, grandparent and legal guardian of a student at J.O. Wilson ES, and any employee of J.O. Wilson ES. 

There are lots of ways to get involved with the PTA:

• Fill out a membership form
• Attend PTA meetings and events
• Join a PTA committee
• Volunteer at an event
• Email the PTA Board at info@jowilsonpta.org
• Follow the PTA on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook (@jowpta)

Meetings

The PTA holds its General Body meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Links to virtual meetings will be available on the school calendar and sent out via the Cardinal Connection.

First PTA meeting and elections Sept. 9, 2025 at 6:30 pm - Our first meeting of the year will be held September 9 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm via Zoom. Come find out about what we have planned for the year ahead, review and approve our annual budget, and more!

At the meeting, we’ll also be voting to fill two roles on the PTA board: Assistant Fundraising Director and Membership Director. Nominate yourself or others with the nomination form here. You can also reach out to info@jowilsonpta.org to learn more.

Cardinal Grant Program 

The J.O. Wilson PTA is pleased to offer teachers, staff and J.O. community groups the Cardinal Grant Program, which makes additional funding available for academic and extracurricular enrichment and community-building. Email info@jowilsonpta.org with any questions.
