Help with Auction Planning!

Cardinal Auction Night is on Friday, May 3rd! Here are some ways you can help with one of the PTA’s biggest fundraisers of the year:

Attend a planning meeting (Tuesdays from 8 to 9 pm, through April 30, except for 4/16) - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81200250095?pwd=Rmx5aERKNmRpRmNhSjVuVzVucHgvdz09
Help solicit donated items! If you have contacts at area businesses that you can reach out to on behalf of the PTA; or, if you can help with outreach and follow-up with potential donors, let us know!
Contribute items to the auction! While we rely heavily on sponsorships and donations from local businesses, we also seek contributions from within our school community. We welcome items big and small – ideas include tickets to sporting events or concerts, bookings for vacation properties, gift cards, artwork or photographs, or themed baskets of items. Please reach out if you have questions or ideas you’d like to propose! The PTA is happy to provide receipts for any in-kind contributions.

Help Care for the J.O. Teachers' Lounge!

The PTA is looking for families who would like to adopt the teachers' lounge for month-long periods throughout the school year to help us maintain it in great condition. This would involve stopping by once or twice during the month, restocking the coffee pods and tea, and anything else you'd like to contribute to show our teachers love (leave them a card? bake some cookies? deliver some flowers?). Donate to the Cardinal Fund

The PTA's Cardinal Fund raises money for teacher grants, enrichment programs for students and special events that bring our school community together. All donations are tax-deductible.

Membership in the J.O. Wilson PTA is free and open to any parent, grandparent, or legal guardian of a J.O. Wilson student and to all J.O. Wilson employees. General Body meetings take place on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Currently, we are alternating between in-person and virtual meetings.

There are many ways to get involved with the PTA:

Room Parents

Our teachers do a LOT and our room parents can help them be successful. Each classroom has room parents that help support the teacher with everything from:

Organizing class parties, usually around a specific topic or theme.
Organizing teacher gifts at holidays and birthdays.
Recruiting and coordinating volunteers for classroom support, school events, and field trips.
Getting communication out to parents
Coordinating the collection of classroom supplies needed

Field Trip Chaperones

Our scholars get out and explore as much as possible and to make those trips happened, chaperones are needed to keep all of the kids safe and supervised! Please consider volunteering to serve as a chaperone on one of the upcoming trips. In order to serve as a chaperone, you MUST have cleared the DCPS Volunteer Process. This process can take up to 3 weeks to complete, so please do so as soon you can so you don't miss out on all of the fun!
