BEFORE & AFTER CARE
Here at J.O. Wilson, we offer one of the largest after-school programs in the city. In order to be able to offer after-school programming to over 300 students, we partner with external organizations to provide our families with programming options. Polite Piggy's provides after-school programming to 101 total students in grades PK3, PK4, and Kindergarten. The DCPS after-school program supports and provides after-school programing to 100 students in grades 1st and 2nd. Lastly, Kid Power supports and provides after-school programming to 150 students in grades 3rd-5th. If you have students in different grades, you may need to register for different programs for each child.
**Before you can register for after-school programming, you have to complete enrollment for the upcoming school year. Enrollment forms can be submitted electronically at https://enrolldcps.dc.gov/node/71. Please email Ms. Talisa Stephenson, at jowilsonesenroll@k12.dc.gov if you need help completing the electronic enrollment packet or if you cannot access the electronic submission process.**

Kid Power After-School PROGRAM for 3rd-5th grades
Students in grades 3rd-5th grade participate in the After School program with Kid Power. Kid Power inspires youth leadership by promoting academic advancement, physical and emotional wellness, and positive civic engagement in underserved communities throughout the District of Columbia. Kid Power embraces youth voice and believes that every young person can become an informed and engaged advocate for change in their own lives and in their communities.
The After-School program operates for three hours a day, Monday through Friday starting with the Academic Power Hour. Students receive homework help and small group mentoring/tutoring taught by Kid Power instructors who work collaboratively with DC teachers to assist with school-day instruction. Students then participate in the enrichment activities.
Kid Power registration for School Year 2024-2025 is now open and will close on August 20th. Please be aware that spaces are limited and applications are approved on a first-come, first-served basis, so please complete your application as soon as possible to reserve your spot. The Kid Power team will review your application and you will receive an email with either confirmation of your student's placement in the program or waitlist status (the initial confirmation of receipt message does not serve as a confirmation of enrollment). Please make sure you are completing an application for each student if you have multiple children you wish to register.
