ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL

Please follow the guidance below to ensure that drop-offs and pick-ups are safe and efficient for our families and our community.

Arrival

The arrival time for students is from 8:15 AM-8:45 AM. Our doors will open at 8:15 to welcome our students each morning. Breakfast will be provided for students from 8:15 to 8:45 as well. Students in grades Pre-K 3 to 1st will report to their assigned classes for breakfast. Grades 2nd-5th will have breakfast in the cafeteria and commons area. The commons area will be utilized as an annex space for breakfast and lunch to help us reduce the number of students we have in an open space at any given time. As a reminder, PK3 and PK 4 will utilize the front entrance closest to 6th Street, and Kindergarten -5th will use the main entrance closest to 7th and K Street.

Kiss & Go

To keep the lane open for Kiss and Go, parking is prohibited in the orange cones on K Street during morning drop-off.

Do

  • Plan ahead. Encourage your children to gather their belongings in the car before arriving in the Kiss and Go lane
  • Proceed as far as you can in the coned-off section in front of the school on K Street
  • Remain in your vehicle. A Kiss & Go staff person will open the car door & help your child exit the car
  • Exit the Kiss & Go lane with care. Please pay attention to the flow of traffic on K Street before exiting the coned section

Don't

  • Drop-off students in the middle of K Street in front of the school. Remember, PLEASE no double parking at any time
  • Allow students to exit the car on the driver side of the vehicle in the Kiss and Go lane
  • Drop off PreK3 and PreK4 students at Kiss & Go. PreK3 and PreK4 students use a separate entrance and have to be walked to the door by an adult

Dismissal

This year we will dismiss students from the playground, field, and blacktop areas of the school starting at 3:15 PM. Teachers will escort students down to their designated area each day for dismissal. We will unlock and use both the 6th street gate by the field and the main playground gate on K Street at 3:15. Parents may enter using either gate. Students who are independent walkers can only exit using the playground gate. Students will not be permitted to exit using 6th street without an adult.

Both gates to the playground will be locked each day at 3:35 PM SHARP. All remaining students (late pick-ups) will then be taken to the cafeteria, commons area, or parent center. If you are late picking up your student you would need to report to the main entrance of the school and from there we will call your student down for dismissal. Please be mindful that parents will not be permitted to enter the building and the dismissal process may take a little longer than normal if you are late.

Inclement Weather Dismissal

In the event that weather prevents us from dismissing from the field in the afternoon using our normal process, we will follow the prescribed process below.

PK3 or PK4

Enter the playground gate and pick them up from the rear classroom (or entrance) door.

Grades K-3rd

Please enter the left front door. Pick up students in grades K-2 from the cafeteria and students in grade 3 from the commons area. Exit using the 7th street cafeteria door only.

Grades 4th-5th

Please provide your child’s name to the guard or staff member at the right-side front door and step to the side to leave the areas in front of the door clear. They will have your child called down from their classroom.

Early Dismissal During The School Day and for After-Care

If you have to pick up students for an early dismissal, please ensure that you do prior to 2:30 pm as the office gets extremely busy after this time. We ask that you please schedule appointments so that they do not conflict with your child's instructional day. Every instructional minute counts towards your Cardinal's academic success.

For After-Care early dismissal, we kindly ask that parents please wait until 4:00 PM, as students are transitioning and getting settled into their after-care locations and staff persons are still settling the students in to start After-Care programming.
